South I think her dest-
ination is St Augustine
where she will tarry till
events shape her future
movements. Miss Cass
and Mr Serles also Mr
Crooks accompany her
the latter going from
New Orleans to Cal. I
did not see as much of
Mrs Hopkins as I had hoped

to, her party was large and
she remained at the Hotel
if the suit should again
be postponed, she will not
go to Cal this spring. She
seemed to feel it was depriving
her of a pleasure she had
looked forward to with
pleasant anticipation and
not the least the seeing
of you both.

Feb 29th. A visit of a
week from Mrs. Gen. Grant
interrupted all my usual
duties among them the
