We cannot insure your safety south of Sisson as unknown parties are destroying bridges and track. And also positive orders from President E. V. Debs to allow no trains to move.

Pres. A.R.W. Chicago, I'll.
The train men offered their services to take me safely home. They have kindly brought me in my private car with 2 servants as far as Sissons.
They have just telegraphed me. that while they are still willing to take me - desire that I obtain your permission & sanction. It is almost an absolute necessity that I should be in San Francisco on Tuesday July 3rd to attend to important business.

Most of the men in your organization are old & devoted friends of my husband, and it is to testify their respect for his memory that they are anxious to take me safely over the Road to my home.
I will be ready to leave Dunsmuir Monday morning at 8:00 & be taken to Sacramento. The next day proceed to S. F. - traveling only by daylight.
Kindly answer to Dunsmuir & oblige.
