President David Starr Jordan,

Stanford University, Cal.

My dear Doctor Jordan:-

As a graduate of Stanford University and
as one who has enjoyed the benefits of the generosity and
wisdom of her of whom I write I wish to express to you in
some measure my feeling of personal loss in the death of Mrs.
Stanford. We here are shocked and depressed more than I can
tell you by the details of this most unhappy event and it is
our sincere regret that she was not able to depart this life
with the sweet peace and happy comfort which her years of
unselfish devotion to the welfare of others so richly deserved.

Most sincerely yours,

Thomas A. Storey.
