My dear Dr. Jordan:

Our great loss brings together the scattered
alumni in very sad but also very sweet remembrances of the
living Mrs. Stanford. Through our grief I think we feel a
leaping joy that ever we should have known face to face this
kind-hearted, big-brained woman. Those who shall weigh her
works will give her her fame, but we who have heard her voice
have something more to give her than fame. The alumni every-
where mourn the loss of a kind and noble friend.

Sincerely,

William J. Neidig.
