Untitled Page 62

The University of Nebraska,
Lincoln, March 2nd, 1905.

President David Starr Jordan,

Leland Stanford University.

Dear Dr. Jordan:

We were greatly grieved to learn of the sudden
death of Mrs. Stanford and the more so that her death should
have occurred so unexpectedly and away from her home. She
has become endeared to us all through her love for humanity,
and her universal kindness and forbearance. We realize how
greatly you of the University will miss her counsel and in-
spiring personality. Our hearts turn to you all in these
hours of bereavement and with renewed faith in our Alma Mater
we extend to you our sympathy and well wishes.

Sincerely yours,

G. W. A. Luckey.
