November the second 1898, at my Palo Alto home, I have enclosed in the Copper Box which is to be deposited in the Corner Stone of the Thomas Welton Stanford Library of the the Leland Stanford Jr. University, the following articles:

University Registers 1891 to 1898 Commencement Programmes Entrance Examinations 1891 to 1898 Circulars 1 to 6 A Book containing Mr. Stanford's plan for the organization of the University, the Grant founding and endowing it and a description of the property enbraced in Grant.

Copy of Sequioa Oct. 28, 1898. Photograph of Thomas Welton Stanford. Coins of the day from 5 cents to 20 dollars in gold, silver, and nickel. Copies of News Papers of the day Copy of "The following of Christ" by Thomas a' Kempis. Copy of the Hymn sung. A letter written by myself confessing my gratitude to God for His tender love and mercy to me, and a detailed account of the circumstances connected with my husband's brother Mr. Thomas Welton Stanford, which caused the erection of this Library in his name. A copy of the Holy Bible. I have also placed in this box a crucifix, which stands for my faith in Jesus, the crucified one, and I wish it perpetuated, be interwoven with the erection of every structure on the campus of the Leland Stanford Jr. University Thus far the crucifix has been placed with the Bible in each corner stone. One in the quadrangle, one in the Museum Building and this in the Library Building Jane L. Stanford
