My dear Senator:
It was very pleasant to have from you and Mrs. Stanford away across the sea, words of congratulation. I hope your journey will result in complete restoration to health and that we shall have you back among us to help in the fight.
With very kind regards to Mrs Stanford from Mrs Harrison and myself.
Very sincerely yours, Benj Harrison

Hon Leland Stanford, Washington, D. C.
My Dear Senator:-
Your very kind telegram from Menlo Park has remained unanswered so long that I now address you at Washington, where I suppose you now are or will soon be. I am very much obliged to you for the very cordial terms in which you express your satisfaction over the result of the recent election, and especially for the good work accomplished by the Republicans of the Pacific coast states. I will be glad to have from you any suggestions that may occur to you and will be pleased to see you at any time.
Very truly yours,
Benj Harrison
