[Centre?] Brunswick [Reus?] Co. N.Y. Dec 11/83

Hon Leland Stanford My dr Sir God bless you for your purpose to [endow?] in your state a University. It is the noblest tribute, the grandest monument you can erect to the memory of your son. Generations of young men will rise up to honor your name and bless your memory. Your boy lives - he has only passed on to be a prince. In the Lord Jesus the day will come when you with him will look out from the world of love and see your gift

[moving?] on in its uplifting of men. Of life's sorrows and partings I have some knowledge two thousand miles of ocean between [me?] and a dear old mother, for years on the [?] of the mind. She has sent me her prayers and blessings every hour. It is not likely that you and I will ever meet in this world. The newspapers have furnished me with all the information I have of you. They are not always reliable and if I make a mistake pardon me. I am only a village preacher but my heart yearns toward every man who [our?] of his own heartbreaks and tears seeks to make his brother man wiser and better. Suffering seems to be the road over which men are to find manhood and God. The Son of Man was perfected by suffering. As your boy [knew?] how to [nestle?] in his mother's heart so may you and your wife find and know a sweet resting place in the heart of the dear Saviour. Very kindly yours J.N. Morris
