The Washington authorities hav desired to publish the, but Mr.Mills and Prof [Agassiy?] both wish theem to be published in connection with some educational institution, Prof [Agassiy?], of course, [preferring?] Harvard. It was very gratifying to hear Prof Davidson speak so cordially because Mr. [Mills?] is a very warm and very outspoken [religious?]

Seattle N.J. June 29-'89 Hon Leland Stanford, U.S.S. Dear Sir: The request that I shall ask of you is of no importance to you but of the utmost to me. I want you to give me a chance to obtain a good education by working for it. I understand that you are building a great University. Now all I ask is for you to give me some work around the Institution whereby I can make my tuition and other expenses. It doesn't matter to me what kind of work it is for I'm willing to do anything to obtain an education. I am twenty-four years of age. Have had to work for my living all my life.
