Seattle N.J. June 29-'89 Hon Leland Stanford, U.S.S. Dear Sir: The request that I shall ask of you is of no importance to you but of the utmost to me. I want you to give me a chance to obtain a good education by working for it. I understand that you are building a great University. Now all I ask is for you to give me some work around the Institution whereby I can make my tuition and other expenses. It doesn't matter to me what kind of work it is for I'm willing to do anything to obtain an education. I am twenty-four years of age. Have had to work for my living all my life. But I am ambitious to be something and I know a good education will go a long ways toward making something out of me. I do hope you will give this request enough consideration to grant it.
