My Dear Governor Stanford:
When I saw by the papers that you and Mrs Stanford had arrived in Paris, I should have written to you had I not supposed that you were going to Kissinger, where Mrs Grant and I might drop in to see you, as we also are making a little journey: Mrs Grant did write to Mrs Stanford, sending the letter to the care of the Legation in Paris,

but we fear that Mrs Stanford never received it.
We learn now that you are at "Aix les Bains" but we do not give up the hope of meeting you some-where, as we are so anxious to see you and Mrs Stanford before you leave for home. We trust that you are going to take Vienna in, later during your travels, but in the meantime will you let me know what your plans are? how long you will stay at "Aix les Bains" and when you will go from
