We have written today in accordance with your suggestion is Gov Stanford on the matter of editions copies and gratuitous copies. We have addressed him at San Francisco having been informed by the offices of the Central Pacific R.R. at New York that he has left for S.F. a letter which we sent him on Jan 19 to the Windsor Hotel with a copy of the book has never been acknowledged.
We note your direction was to copies for England which shall have attention.

Jour letter of Feb 23 arrives today.
Mr. Edwards has had the experiments in photo Engrams made which you desired and the results will be forward to open on Monday. I do not think you will find them very satisfactory and are quite sure that in the preparation of the second edition you will prefer to adhere to the original method of execution. Pleae let the H.P Co know at once as we must

the matter to you and shall abide by whatever you and Gov Stanford deems best to do in the interest of the book.
Our attention has been called to the fast that colored plated No 9 has our reference letter on it although i is referred to by letters in the text. Was this intentional?
Additions can be made to the plates not yet bound if you will let us know at once and also [as?] the resend edition.
