Dear Mother and Daddy,

We have been decorating most of the day for our house dance tonight. It is supposed to be a ski lodge dance, which doesn't mean formats. I guess my poor little red dress will have to wait awhile longer. In the meantime I have no idea what I am going to wear because they drafted my ski outfit to put on a model for some decorations. I sort of wish it were going to be formal, because I havn't been to one all year long, but then we couldn't dance the schottesh and "put your little foot dance" in formals, and it is so much fun to do those little dances, especially since Art knows how to do them

all so well, and you don't have to bother about teaching him how.

Last night I went out with Jack. I finally finished his socks. It was quite a struggle for they had to be done by five-thirty since I was going over to have dinner with Mary Ellen at Tequnita. If he dashes there, and I was just going to meet him after dinner over there. But I worked and worked all Friday afternoon, and just didn't quite get them done in time. So Carol finished sewing up two seems in them and pressed them, and I came back and got them. I had quite a thrill when I gave them to him, because he was so pleased. He kept talking about them the entire evening long. He kept looking

around for a table where he could prop his feet up; so he could show them off, of course he put them on right away. Luckily, they fit and nothing arastic happened when he put them on. The funniest thing happened about them the night before. I was working on them downstairs for a little while right after dinner, and who should walk in but Art. I succeeded in getting them underneath me before he saw them, but then I had to get up, and of course he saw them and sat right down on them too. He probably thinks that they were for him.

On Friday night we went first to a Stanford-Cal. basketball game. We lost, but it was really a very exciting

game because each side kept getting ahead by one point. We were all just terribly sad when we didn't win. I just hope that we can tonight. After the game we went to a Kappa Sig party with Virginia Walker and Ralph Ashton. The four of us had just an hysterical time together.

I am very glad to say that I got a B+ on my history test of which I was very proud, and also I had a very good music lesson, even according to Dr. Popper. We are having a Public Law test next Tuesday, with the result that I have been spending most of my time in the Law Library.

I feel I must go back down and keep with the decorations.

Love to all,

Mary
