Dear Mother and Daddy,

I have just come back from the shower we had for Anne, it was readlly a lot of fun. Of course I didn't get there until about twenty to four, which was a little late, but all I missed was the swimming. The pool was awfully pretty; it is sort of an oval shape and Sally blew up some baloons and floated then on it. There was a slight breeze up, which blew them all around. We got iced tea, chocolate cake, two kinds of little cheese sandwiches, potato chips, popcorn, and olives. Sally was very thrilled because it was the first time she had gotten to use some of her lettle trays. Anne got all kinds of canned goods, and flour, and different things that would keep for a long time - she also got a box of strawberries. She said that Dick had put on ten pounds since the wedding.

My economics test wasn't really very hard, and I felt that I knew it pretty well. But again there was just too much of it. The next class had already assembled, and was about ready to start, and I looked out and saw the corrector way down the hall with the papers. I was still in the middle of sentence, but I had to get up and run hand it to him. Sometimes they won't count papers if they arn't handed in promptly. I may not have done too well on it though because everyone else thought it was easy too; so that means there will be a lot of hink grades.

The shower last night was also very successful. In fact it was one of the nicest I have ever been to. Both of the girls were so thrilled. The secret was kept perfectly - neither had any idea that it was for both of them instead of just for the other. I was a little afraid that it might be a little

awkward because one was a personal shower and the other was a kitchen, and there is quite a descrepency between the two, but it wasn't at all. Virginia already had a lot of her things, and Carol didn't have anything at all. They were both so appreciative of everything that they got. It was so much fun to sit around and eat cake and watch them open them. They arranged two big chairs up in front, with their names printed on the back, and big clothes baskets in front with the presents in them.

I didn't do anything on Wednesday or Thursday but study; I did a lot of reading for my economics test, about twelve hours of it and then there wasn't one question on the test that was about the reading - it was all about the class notes. It was sort of discouraging, but I guess that I read a lot of valuable material anyway.

Love to all,

Mary
