Dear Mother and Daddy,

I just got back from Sue Riordan's wedding. She was the girl who was my roommate the first quarter that I moved into the house. It was a Catholic wedding, so it was in the morning. I had never been to a Catholic wedding before, and I was very interested in seeing what and would be like. I was really quite impressed. It was a very beautiful day for San Francisco to begin with, and it was very bright inside the church. The one thing I liked about it was that all through the ceremony, when-ever the priest was blessing the couple or their communion, this man sang some beautiful songs like Ave Maria. We had one of the most beautiful resonant voices I have ever

heard. He was some professional singer and he sang about four songs. I went up with Sally, Kay, Ruth, and Eve. I sat next to Eve, and all through the ceremony the bishop kept ringing a little bell that sounded just like a telephone, with that and having to rise, kneel and sit so many times when we had no idea what to do, we could hardly control ourselves from laughing, despite the impressive music. They had the reception at her home; it was about lunch time and we were all completely starved. However, we soon fixed that up, they had the most delicious little sandwiches I have ever tasted, and just thousands of different kinds, nicluding all sorts of little hot ones. They had a perfectly fabulous wedding cake. I think it must have been from [Blums?]. Even the icing was out of

this world which is very unusual in wedding cakes. It was about five layers high, and each layer was raised from the next one by little pillars, and underneath were little doves sitting around. She threw her bouquet out on the front lawn from her upstairs bedroom window, and I practically caught it. Judy was one of the bridesmaids. She came down last week. It was awfully good to see her. She and Art are quite officially engaged now. She has a beautiful ring, and are going to be married about the third of January. Art was here a couple of weeks ago, and I had quite a little talk with him. He was on his way to Portland where he is going to work for a couple of years.

Last night we, Jack and I went up to San Francisco.

We met [Ottilie?] and Jerry up there. They had come up for the SC - Cal game. She had written me that they were going to be there, and for us to meet them if we could. We went to the Mark Hopkins Hotel. there were lots of people up there that we knew- including quite a few from SC. But no one that I knew really well; I kept hoping that Nan, or Annette, or Alice would come in, but I didn't see them. Ottilie, as usual, had on a fabulous green outfit, that was really beautiful. From what she said, she and Jerry plan to be married about the twenty-fifth of next June. Ottilie ws telling me that she has had a dressmaker design the bridesmaids dresses, and they sound as if they are going to be just about likemy black net formal.

prise shower for Eve. It was downstairs, and we made Bobbie keep her out after ten-thirty, and then everyone was downstairs waiting for her in the dark, and when she came in we all sang to her. She was very pleasantly surprised. It was an awful lot of fun having a shower for her because she was so very thrilled with everything she [got?].

It was awfully nice of you to ask me to bring Ruth home with me. But I don't think she should take the time off from her studying to come down for the game. There really are not very many people coming down this year because everyone is so discouraged about our team, and they just don't think it will be worth it. I do hope though that I can persuade Ruth to come down sometime soon.
