Dear Mother and Daddy,

I have just recieved your letter and wanted to sit down right away and explain about my costume last year. I don't know how appropriate it would be for what Margie wants, but it was very disguising. I just got ahold of some old black calico that had been used in decorating for some dance. I just severed up the sides, and took a huge tuck on the shoulder, and stuck in some long sleeves, so that it would look like a graduation robe or choir robe or something. It came down to about the middle of my legs, and I wore back boots, and hung a tail at the very back that dragged along the ground. This is all supposed

to be a cats costume. Then a just sewed up a piece black material like a sack, and Illie painted a cats face on it, with one eye open and one eye winking, and a tiny hole at the mouth for a straw. We pined the corners to our heads with bobby pins so that they stood up like ears. It was really enough to see out of and the only thing that showed was one eye. No one could possibly tell who I was, but finally, only through a process of elimination my identity was discovered.

I have had a very bad day today. I had an accounting test this morning, and I'm just sure I couldn't have done worse. I really knew all the material quite well, but I just didn't get it down. I studied hard all yesterday. In fact I studied

I really think everyone is the class did quite poorly, because the test was so long. I got so frantic trying to get everything done in the time we had, and I just couldn't seem to add straight or figure anything out right. It was very sad. At least I can do my problems right, the last paper I got back didn't have a single solitary mark on it, but those don't count as far as your grade is concerned.

I really had a very quiet weekend after I wrote you on Saturday. Saturday night I went with Jack over to Anne and Dick [Huntsburgers?] house in San Bruno. There were about ten other people there. They had an awfully cute house. It was just

new when they moved into it. It has a living room - a dining room kitchen study and two bedrooms, but someone said it was costing them thirty thousand dollars, which they evidently plan to pay in about sixteen years. She had done quite a few things toward fixing it up and she surprised me by how clever she was. Sunday I studied all day, and Jack came over for supper.

I must go and study business law now. I am hoping that perhaps I can do a little better with that.

Love to all, Mary
