Dear Mother and Daddy,

I have just finished reading a long chapter about consideration in contracts, it does seem rather confusing to me. In a couple of minutes I shall have to go back down to the library to read some more. Very little has happened since the last time I wrote, I spent all of Monday and Tuesday in working an accounting problem. I have had more trouble with it than with anything else. I have my accounting final on Monday - Business Law on Tuesday, and Public Administration on Friday. That means that I shall not be coming home until the Friday night of the nineteenth, or Saturday the twentieth. Probably on

Saturday. It all depends on when I can get a reservation. I do not know quite what to do about my reservations coming back up. School starts on the fifth of January, but I would like to be up here on the third because Judy and Art and going to have their wedding day. Kay, and Phyllis Talmage and Sally Teachout are coming up on the morning of the third on the plane. I would just love to be able to do that, because I always wanted to fly up or back just once. I even had the girls make a reservation for me - just in case you would let me, but I didn't because I didn't want to spend my money for it before Christmas. Anyway - what would

you suggest about my coming back up. I feel as if I should make some kind of a reservation.

Last Tuesday night we did have our Christmas party here. It was just for all the girls in the house and the hashers. The hashers get to eat in the dining room with all the girls and the sophomores do all the hashing. George Grimes told me that both he and Johnny Fulton were going to try out for the Olympics. George probably won't make it, but I'm sure Johnny will because he won the National Track meet last year, and has made the fastest time in running the half-mile of any American. Anyway, at the party we had a tremendous turkey dinner and afterwards the Sophomores

gave a skit about what all the other girls in the house wanted for Christmas. They got one of the hashers to dress up as Santa Claus. He claimed he just hated to get all dressed up, but I don't really believe he did because he was so funny doing it. After the skit, Santa Claus handed out these joke presents that everyone had given everyone else. There were no names on the presents, but each one had a poem, and you had to guess who the present belonged to by what was written in the poem. I got a small pitch pipe, so I could sing on key in the shower. After that we all went caroling.

I must go down to the library now and study some more.

Love to all,

Mary~

P.S. Daddy, Thank you very much for putting some more money in my account. I wasn't really expecting it. Maybe I can find you a Christmas present after all. Love, Mary~

Dear Mother,

I do have a small favor to ask of you. I am afraid that I won't have much time Christmas shopping before I get home; so I thought perhaps that if you had to go to Bullock's Wilshire before I come home, you could see if they had any more of those little sterling silver powder shovels and perfume funnels. I thought they would be good gifts to to give to some of the girls I have to get presents for, but I am afraid that if I wait until I get home they will be all gone. The little shovels are $3.00, and the perfume funnels are $2.50. I thought maybe you could get one shovel and two funnels. Please don't make a special trip to do this, but if you do have to go down there for
