Dear Mother and Daddy,

I have just come back from going to church. They had a minister there from the Pasadena Presbyterian Church, and he was very good. The regular one they have here isn't very good. So when ever anyone comes to visit, ever one goes, and it was certainly worth having going today.

The tea at Mrs. Tressider's home was last Friday. It really was quite an experience for me. I had to stand at the door and meet everyone that came in and introduce all the girls to Mrs. Tressider, Miss Davidson, who is the director of the Y.W.C.A. and Miss Brown who is the Dean of Women. It was quite a job, since I didn't

know all of the senior girls since about two hundred girls came in. It was really quite a wonderful affair for the girls. About thirty women who were Stanford graduates and were prominent in various fields around here were invited. The purpose of the tea was to give the girls an opportunity to meet and talk with these women. Unfortunately, I had to stand at the front door all afternoon and only got to meet these women as they came in the door. The President's home was really quite a wonderful place. It is just mammoth with a big fireplace in practically every room. When I got home I had quite a surprise waiting for me. There on my bed was a box of red roses from Jack. He had said he would

call me that morning before he went to work which meant about seven, and I wasn't too anxious to get up that early anyway, and he had forgotten to do so. So that was the reason he said for sending the flowers. He must have been in an awfully good mood though. I was certainly surprised, this has never happened before.

that night we went out to see this young couple that Jack knows. I have seen them quite a bit; so I sort of know them too. They have a darling apartment that she is fixing. She has taken about a year to do it, but it does look just adorable. I think she had made quite a bit of the things herself. I was very impressed.

Yesterday we had to move

our rooms. I had rather a bad time because I had to move in the afternoon because of my morning class. I still havn't completely finished and my things are all rather disrupted.

Last night we went to the Cal.-Stanford basketball game. It was most exciting because we did win - strange as it seems. It was also the first game that Cal. has lost this year. They were quite upset and we were quite happy. When the game was over, the team got carried away and carried the coach all over the court on their shoulders. We had just gotten out of the hospital an hour before the game and now will probably have to go back for a month after a relapse. After that we came back and went to a hobo dance that the

Phi Psi's gave - It is an annual affair, and everyone gets all dressed up like a hobo to go. All I did was apply freckles, and big tales, and old clothes, but some people really looked hysterical.

Eight of us have bought a car - a lovely 1923 Buick. At top speed it goes twenty miles an hours. We got it from a little boy in Palo Alto for forty dollars. It is painted bright green with Pally ?? (for Palo Alto High School) on the back. It is a convertible, except it does have a lovely brown tin top. The front hood also keeps sliding off if you jerk it very badly. Right now, though, it has a flat tire. I think we shall just keep it that way until after finals. We have had more fun riding around campus in it. The other
