Dear Mother and Daddy,

I was so glad to get your letter yesterday, only now I am getting absolutely frantic. I was anxious to know how your evening with the Carpenter's turned out. I am crushed though that you were so mad for Bud. I'm sure that you will like Jack the best - he would have stayed and played bridge too.

Everyone is suspicious of me now, and they tease me constantly - especially now that the invitations to the tea have arrived. Last night Sally Davies wanted to give a little party for the girls who were graduating

and asked me if I would like to give it with her; so of course I said yes, and when we asked everyone to come, they were just sure that was it. Also I had been so indescret to fix my nails that day, and what is more I had to make Jack come by and take me out there because I had to go early and get some ice cream, and I didn't have anyway to do it. They were all very disappointed - but we did have lots of fun doing it anyway. There were about ten girls there, and we got a chocolate cake and put the names of the girls who were graduating on it. Then we got some chocolate flaked ice cream and served hot chocolate. I think we got a little too much chocolate, but at least you have to admit

everything did go together. I had to ask Mrs. Reynolds for some silver. I was scared to do it, but she not only said yes but insisted on carefully picking the spoons and forks out so they would match and polished them all herself. I was simply amazed.

I have been spending all my afternoons in the library studying business law. I have that final next Monday, and I am scared to death. I would so love to get a B in it. I got my last test back today and I got a B on it too; so maybe there is some hope.

going on if I didn't and then announced it the very next week-end they would be so disappointed. I think I can get them all not to say anything.

I must go now to my two o'clock class. I do hope that now the invitations are out you won't be so busy.
