Dear Mother and Daddy,

The laundry box arrived yesterday and I was so glad to get it. I finally got the curtains up and they do look just darling. I put Ruth's present in her drawer, and she seemed so thrilled when she discovered it. She seemed so pleased with the colors. She said she didn't have a scarf with brown in it and she has so many brown clothes she can wear it with. So it seems that we did just give her the right thins. I was also so thrilled to find my white dress pressed so beautifully. I almost think that I'll try and not wash it again until I get home again.

because I would never do as good a job. It looks now as though I will never get to wear it. It has been very cold all week and today was raining like furry.

Jack and I went yesterday to see about your reservations at the Benjamine Franklin. We made them with out too much trouble, and got the kind of rooms I think you wanted -- two adjoining rooms that slept two people each. They are for the eleventh through the thirteeneth. The only thing is that he said he would only keep them until two o'clock the afternon of the eleventh, but that it would be all right if I could confirm them before two. I could easily go up that morning, or it would be alright

if I just phoned in -- so I think that everything will turn out right. I had to change my program a bit because I found I couldn't take my business law course because it was given in the School of Business and only graduate students could take it. So now I am going to take a course in Russia. I decided that it would be a good thing to know something about Russia now, just for general information. I got in touch with my music teacher and am going for my first lesson next Thursday.

I really didn't have a very rip roaring week-end. Friday night about twelve of us stayed in the card

room and played cards and listened to the radio. It was really quite funny because all the liverires[?] were there and no one said a word. I guess it was because everyone was so tired. Last night the same group of people went out to Moffat Field where there were a lot more people we knew. It was loads of fun seeing everyone again. I wore my new suit - only without a blouse and my gold chocker. I did think that it looked quite tremendous. I was going to church this morning, but by the time I was all ready to go, it was raining so hard it was practically hailing; so I weakened and stayed home. I have just finished reading "The Comedy of Errors" and am going to start "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Jack is coming over just a little later.

Jack finally decided that he really ought to give me his pin. So he sort of threw it at me Friday night. It was quite hysterical when I first started wearing it, no one could quite seem to understand why I had gotten engaged first and then pinned. It is quite the reverse procedure. Ruth hasn't noticed it yet. I shall have to catch her sometime with her glasses on and see what happens.

I do hope you have quite recovered now from my being home. Be sure and use the (stay-in) bed cure.

Love to all,

Mary
