Dear Mother and Daddy,

I received your letter and was so sorry to hear that you were sick. I do hope that you will stay in bed long enough to get well rid of it.

Jack suddenly arrived yesterday at noon. He had just been told that they wanted him to start working at National Cashregister next Monday; so he had to rush around and get up here immediately to get all his things down to L.A. I guess that this will be the last time I will see him until after graduation. I had a test at eleven in Russia and then picked Jack up at the station at twelve, and then had

another test at one. It was rather a tight schedule, and I don't think that I did too well on either of my tests, but then I always do seem to find that I can't do too well when I have two on the same day, plus picking up Jack I guess was just too much.

Ruth was having a surprise shower for Dielys that afternoon, and of course I would liked to have done something with Jack, but Ruth was relying on Eve and me to get Dielys out to Allied Arts; so I couldn't back out. It was a lovely shower, although not as nice as the one Ruth gave for me. It was for tea and they have the most wonderful tea at Allied Arts ever. I do hope we will have time to go there when you come up.

Last night we went over to a young couples house, Peter and Daisy Boesche's. Both of them were in Jack's class and Peter was a Delt with him. I have gotten to know them quite well through Jack, and they are both so much fun. They had asked us over for dinner about a week before, and of course I didn't think about Jack's not being back by then; so I accepted. Then went he didn't come I was frantically trying to get ahold of them at the last minute to tell them that we couldn't come, and at the same moment practically Jack phoned saying when he was coming, so I guess that he really decided to come and came in a hurry.

He really did have a

wonderful time, and a marvelous dinner of ham and everything that goes with it. What is more it all came out at the same time and without any difficulty. I was amazed. I'm afraid that I shall just never be able to do it.

Jack is coming over now in just a few minutes. I don't know what he plans to do this afternoon, but tonight we are going to see "Harvey" in San Francisco. I have already seen it, but it was so good. I certainly don't mind seeing it again.

I do hope you feel better soon. I will write you all about the week-end when Jack leaves.

Love to all,

Mary~
