Dear Mother and Daddy,

I really didn't realize that I had been neglecting you so. I was quite disappointed when I got up Saturday morning and found that you had called and I wasn't there to talk to you, but I'm sure that it isn't my fault for I had written a letter last Tuesday and also last Friday. I really felt quite badly especially when I knew that you haddn't been feeling too well.

I had a wonderful time in the city Friday night. I had already seen "Harvey" twice, but of course I couldn't tell him that when he told me he had gotten tickets to go, besides I had loved it so much when I had

seen it before, and I enjoyed it just as much this time as if I had never seen it. We went up about six and had dinner on the way at a place up near San Mateo. It was quite divine. I had a steak with fried onions; I had never had one quite like it beore and it was delicious.

On Saturday Ralph and Virginia Ashton arrived from Utah. Virginia was just the same as ever, although I don't quite know why I had expected her to change. They were staying with a young couple in Palo Alto and the six of us went to the swimming meet in the afternoon. It really was a very gratifying thing to go to because no matter how terrible we may be in athletics - at lease we are good in swimming.

It was a meet between Stanford, U.C.L.A., Cal, and S.C., and we won it hands down. We came in first in everything except diving. After the meet we went to another couple's house that Ralph and Virginia knew, and stayed there for quite a while. Then we back to Palo Alto and had dinner at the place where they were staying. After dinner we went around to see some more people. It was certainly fun seeing Ralph and Virginia again. Ralph spent the entire time giving Jack "the word" on married life, and Virginia spent the rest of the time telling me not to believe a word he said, and I didn't.

Jack left yesterday morning, this time for good, and I guess I won't see him again until I get home

unless he should happen to come up for graduation, and I really doubt if he can do that. I am so glad that he is so happy about his job and seems to think that is exactly the right place for him. So I guess that I will be living in Los Angeles after all. The only thing I'm not too happy about is that; this probably means he won't get much time off in which to get married, but I guess that is to be expected when you get a new job.

I am now in the middle of studying for a taxation test which I was supposed to take today, but I'm not going to until Thursday. I do hope I do better in this one than the last - at least I had better.

Again I'm sorry that I havn't seen that you heard from mem ore often.

Love to all,

Mary~
