Dear Mother and Daddy,

I have just received my bank statement saying how generous you had been with me. Thank you so much for putting it in the bank for me. I shall try my best to take good care of it.

I finally took my taxation test last Friday. It really wasn't so hard, but then I had gone over everything four or five times. I went in at eleven to take it and the professor just gave me the test and told me to hand it in by two. He certainly trusted me, for I was only supposed to have one hour for it, and I could have taken three, and he didn't seem to care where I took it. I am anxious to find out how I did on it. It is one of the courses that I have to take to graduate.

I went to a swimming party last Friday afternoon that a Betty Callander gave, at her home in Woodside. It was really to announce Marky Cleek's engagement. We all knew someone was going to do it, but no one knew quite who it was going to be. She did it in a darling way, by having their names in party poppers, and when you pulled the little poppers out to make the noise, a little piece of paper came out with it telling their names, everyone got quite a kick out of it. They had a beautiful cake that was made like a little Merry-go-Round. Unfortunately it wasn't too good a day for swimming, but that didn't keep anyone from throwing Marky into the pool. The boy she is engaged to is a very good friend of Jack's, and I think they will end up by living in
