Dear Mother and Daddy,
You will be pleased to hear that I played for some guests here at Roble tonight. We had what we call faculty night and a few of the teachers which the girls especially liked were asked to dinner. After dinner we had a little program and I had to play.Naturally, since I wanted to impress the teachers I played the Rigoletto Paraphrase. I started out beautifully by coming down with a thump on the wrong note and by the end of the piece I think everyone had forgotten it. seems a little above my head. Strangely enough it is French which seems to be my easiest subject.
This afternoon I went bike riding (my bike has not arrived here yet but I'm sure it must be at the express office and I am going to see abut it on Friday) with my roommate, Marilyn Dey. We rode over to her brother's home. It certainly was beautiful scenery. Marilyn's sister-in-law plays the piano very well too and she knows of a teacher here in Palo Alto who has studied in Paris and is supposed to be extremely good. However, I thought I'd wait until you came up to see about taking some lessons, because, although I'd like to very much, I don't see when I'd find the time. As it is I seem to live in a daze. I am confronted by the thought, however, that I had this same trouble when I first went to Marlborough and I did all right there, som I guess I will here too.
Will write again soon, Love to all, Mary
