Dear Mother and Daddy

My chair and rug finally came and I got my room fixed up. It looks awfully cute- cuter than most and I'm extremely pleased. The chair is just darling, I was rather afraid that it wouldn't go with the room, but it does beautifully. The yellow is rather an indefinite color.

You seem to be so interested in my advisor. I would have written you about him but I didn't think it worth mentioning. All he has done for me has been to approve my program. He is the head of the political science department and is awfully nice. I guess that he will advise me on what courses to take when I finish all my lower division requirements. You needn't worry about my dropping my French. I just am not taking it now because they didn't offer a proper course for me so I am going to take some more this fall. I always intended to take Spanish, besides,

I'm very interested in it and I am going to try and get an A in it. I am going to keep up with my French too though and before I finish college I am going to try very hard to learn also some German, Russian, Portugese, and Chinese. I am also going to take up the art course later on and a course in opera. Of course I am going to take a lot of courses in government and international relations later on. I have become very interested in my Western Civ. and I studied it very hard. Today, for the first time since I've been here, I really took a part in the discussion and I was very proud of myself. As for the English and Physical Science, I'm not very interested in it and so I am going to concentrate on the other two. I've decided to specialize in being a grind.

You will probably also be very interestedin knowing that I am a representative on the Y.M.C.A. Board.

Give my love to everyone, Love, Mary
