Dear Mother and Daddy,

Nothing very exciting has happened this week. I have continued on my policy to concentrate on being a grind. I spend all my afternoons at the Civ. library and I am going there again as soon as I mail this letter. I think I might as well take my pack roll and camp there. I haven't gotten any spectacular grades this week, in fact I haven't gotten any except on a Spanish test that I got an A- in. It really isn't a very wonderful grade since everyone in the class practically got one too, and the professor decided not to give any more such easy tests ---

I'm sorry, but I was interrupted. Kay and Ruth [Nepevander] came in to get me to go and try out for a part in the "gaieties" - the Stanford variety show. I did read a little part in a skit about a girl who had just gotten a new formal, but didn't have any place to wear it. It's very typical. I'd love to have a part in the

show, but I don't know whether I will or not.

I really feel very guilty about not having gotten this letter off earlier. I try to write every other day, but sometimes I don't quite seem to make it. This time certainly being an example.

My music lessons are going fine. The music she gives me to practice isn't too very interesting, but her lessons are extremely interesting. She has her pupils all met one Saturday morning a month to discuss music and play for each other. I don't have to do anything this time, but I think that it will be very interesting.

You've gotten things a little mixed up. There wasn't any [Y.H.C.H.] party. All I did for the Y. was to collect money for memberships. I also wish that you wouldn't worry about my going to church, for I do every Sunday; also don't worry about me and Mary Ellen; I'm always in her room talking.

Will write again soon.

Love to all, Mary.
