Dear Mother and Daddy,

Well I'm afraid that they rainy season has really began now. All last weel we had lovely sunny weather, but I'm afraid it's no more. Yesterday was probably our last nice day for quite a while. It was a good thing we had a nice day yesterday because our corridor and another corridor had a picnic in the mountains. It was loads of fun. We all left about 1:00 wearing jeans and hiked about a mile after we left the car so you can imagine it was quite far away from everything. We roasted weenies over a camp fire and had lots more wonderful food. After that we sang songs and then we played baseball in a cow pasture. There was a little ravine just behind the pasture and I hit the ball a little too hard and it went down the ravine. Ruth [Nepevander] had to go down and get it and in the process she got a little mixed up in some poison oak and she has been itching all day today.

I'm awfully afraid that she is going to get poison oak and I feel responsible. Of course our corridor didn't win the game, but it was fun anyway. When we started home, someone had fooled with the cars and so none of them would work, but we finally got started after having just about taken them all apart.

What do you think about my coming home for Thanksgiving? I'm just dying to come but I'm afraid it's going to be rather expensive since I'll have to take a night train.

My room has become an open house. I got a letter from Peter [Boefs] today and he sent two pictures; everybody has been coming in to see his pictures, they were certainly something. I think he must be awfully nice, a little conceited.

I'm glad to hear that Bobbie took out Annette. I've asked her to come up and see me week after next. I certainly hope she can, but I rather doubt it, train fare is so expensive. If you should happen to see her persuade her to come anyway.

Love to all, Mary -
