Dear Mary,

Well, how are things going? Fine, I'm sure.

Mother handed me a letter to mail to you this morning. It was unsealed and of course I had a peek at it before mailing it! I might say that she stood at the front door of the church in order to meet all passers-by, hopeful that they would ask questions concerning you and she would have the opportunity of spreading the news about the honorable business. I'm afraid you have a job ahead of you now to keep up your rep!

I suppose you have gone along merrily writing checks. At any rate, the day after you left, the following day rather - to be exact, January 9 - we made a deposit to your credit in accordance with the duplicate deposit slip attached. Be sure you get your bank account in proper shape and know how you stand - don't ever overdraw your account. Let us know if you run short.

Mom has written you all the news so there is nothing left for me to write, except you wouldn't recognize the back hedge and trees as put in most of the afternoon trimming and scraping and burning. There is plenty more to do. Maybe you had better come and give me a hand - Marjorie's too busy entertaining her guests.

Well, so long for this time. Take care of yourself and write us all the news.

Yours as always, DAD

Miss Mary Allie Lesnett P.O. Box 936 Stanford University, California

P.S. Did you receive the clock?

Dad
