Dear Mother and Daddy,
I've just gotten up to go to church with Sally Teachout. After I get back I'm really going to have to start studying. It seems that I really do study quite a bit but that I never get done what I should get done. I'm afraid that I won't get nearly as good grades this quarter than last although I study more. I had a Spanish test back Friday and I only got a C on it. It was rather discouraging since I'd gotten A's all last quarter except for one B, and I studyied twice as hard for this test as I did any last quarter. French is also a little worrying, not because it is so hard, but because there is so much of it that I can't always get it all done much less remember it all letter perfect. Physical Sciences is also much harder and I had a little test in there in which I didn't do very well either. But I certainly do enjoy the Physical Sciences laboratory. Last time we made

all sorts of compounds with sulfur and it was so interesting to see the amazing results. Last time I also spilt some acid all over my hand. It was a concentrated acid and had a little note attached to it to be sure and not spill it on your hands and clothes; so of course I spilt it all over me - but nothing happened. My work will probably pick up later if I keep on working, at least I hope so. I've had my low points before and it has always turned out all right.
Last Friday night George took me out to dinner at a very nice place. It was really something for him to do, as I know he hardly ever takes girls to such expensive places for dinner. We went with 3 other couples, Sally S., Kay and a girl named Betty Callender. It was really loads of fun. Afterwards we went to a dance at Tyler Hall. We played more ping pong than we did dance though, and did I get beaten bad. Last night I went to a formal dance with Bob and I wore my pink and black formal. I had an awfully

nice time and Bob was very entertaining. George was there with some other girl whom I think is putting me off George's list, but it really doesn't bother me. I almost had a problem about our Roble formal. George has been asked and I didn't think Bob would be able to go because of his initiation into his medical fraternity that night in the city, but he can go; so that's fine, especially since he's the one I really wanted to go with. Well, enough of this I've simply got to get back to work - I do all the time except for Friday and Saturday nights, but it doesn't seem too profitable
