Dear Mother and Daddy,

I'm not so worried now about my studying or my work - that is except in Physical Science, but I just don't understand about electricity and motors, etc. I thought I was going to have a Western Civ and French test on Friday, both in a row rather worried me, but now I've found that the Western Civ. test is not until next week and the French test is an open book test especially since I have all my words written in which is permitted. Yesterday I really did some studying. I went to the library right after my 9 o'clock class and stayed there from 10 in the morning until 6 at night without moving except once to get a drink of water. Yesterday evening I went to the Civ library to study Civ, but I didn't study quite so intently as in the afternoon. I was sitting with Sally Teachout and the two Tyler boys who go with Kay and Ruth came and sat one next to Teachie and the other next

to me and then they began to pump us for information about Kay and Ruth. Jack Seimer, the one that dates Ruth, kept asking me about her affairs, which I didn't want to disclose to much. The whole thing ended by Jack and I conspiring to throw Ruth and George in the lake. Strangely I did get some Civ. done and Mr. Evans commended me on my class recitation this morning.

Next Saturday they are having another big formal dance. I'm going with George who asked me about a month ago. Bob and another Bob Kincade asked me too. It was very pleasing to have three boys ask me, especially now that the man situation is a little tight. Next quarter I probably won't have any dates at all since Bob will be in San Francisco. That's not so far but that he could take me out, but he will be an interne in some hospital and internes are always pretty busy. George will be leaving too, so that leaves me high and dry But it really won't matter I guess. I just like to have some

one nice and reliable around to take me to all the dances. But it certainly wouldn't hurt me to miss a few. I've been so lucky so far. I was going to wear my black net dress, but George wants to go out to dinner before, which is a great surprise since he took me out to dinner last week, so I don't know what it will be since I can't very well wear that dress out to dinner.

I'd better stop now, since I have to go and deliver some notes to call a meeting for the dance and practice some for Mrs. Belenky. Last time I went to Mrs. Belenky she told me that I played like an old maid and that if I didn't do something, she would take me over her knee and spank me. Well, I'd better get busy before I fall into either fate.

Love to all, Mary.
