Dear Mother and Daddy,
The things you sent me came, the play clothes and the film and I was so pleased to get them. I'm afraid though that I won't be needing the material after all, but someone else can use it so I'm very glad that you sent it. I was going with George to a shipwreck dance and Sally, Ruth, Kay, and I were going to wear sarongs again and surprise the boys. I really think that they would have been surprised too.
Last Sunday afternoon I went with George to Santa Cruz. It's not very far from here. It has a beach and an amusement park and was very much like Venice only not so many people. Three other couples went with us but I don't think you would know them. The boys brought some lovely food along but we had to make the sandwiches for them. We really didn't at all mind that and I made George one that was about a mile high. I hope he liked it anyway he ate it. We came home quite early and ate a little dinner in Palo Alto. George made me go on the roller coaster and I didn't want to at all, but it really wasn't too

bad after we got started.
Sally's med. student Jim is going to have to leave and I am certainly sorry about it. I just can't picture myself going out with Bob and not double dating with Sally and Jim too. Jim has gotten a metal illness from overwork but he will be well in time. I'm sending you a picture of Bob because I wanted you to know what he looked like, but you must send it back immediately. I had a hard time getting the picture because he is the kind of a boy that just hates to have his picture taken. This is one of those unprepared poses. You he see he isn't nearly as nice looking as George but he is very nice and extremely pleasant.
My study method over the week-end worked quite well and I really did much better on Monday, but I've decided that I shouldn't buy myself any playclothes until my grades are brought up a little. I just won't have any time to "play" until I get some better marks.
Don't forget to send my picture back immediately so I can put it on my bulletin board with George and Peter.
