Dear Mother and Daddy,

Everything has started out wonderfully. The day goes so quickly that [not] long before I get out of my bed in the morning I'm already in it again at night, and I never have time to do all the things I want to do even if I took all my meals in the library. The weather out has been simply divine, but I've been so busy that I havn't had time to go up to the boathouse to enjoy it. My classes are all so interesting that I really look foward to the lectures, Political Science especially. We are studying the British constitutional system now and the professor makes it so interesting because he knows so many little, personal stories about the members now in Parliament. The professor is a Mr. Buck and he is a graduate from Oxford University. He went there on a Rhodes Scholarship and all the men that he went to school with there are now just becomming important in political affairs. He knows at least two of the cabinet members personally, and also quite a few members in Parliament and some officials in the departments. He

also tells about his meeting and talking with George V and Edward VIII, and the tales he doesn't tell about them all. Of course he always uses them as a means of illustrating some point; they, nevertheless, make the course very interesting. I still find sociology interesting too, but the sociology lectures are not nearly as interesting as the political science lectures, mainly I think because the sociology professor isn't so interesting a lecturer as professor Buck. Even if I don't get very good grades out of these courses I will feel as though I've accomplished some thing anyway, because I will have enjoyed them.

You asked me if I'd worn any of my new clothes. Yes I've wore them all except my red gingham dress. I wore my blue wool suit and my little white hat to the ballet and I wore my new silk dress and coat to a dance - the Post Reg. dance which they always have the first week of school and I wore my coat again on Sunday. Every one was just crazy about my coat, but no one

could get over my little white hat. I guess I'll never have any thing that people like so well as that little hat. When I wore it, I wore my hair rolled in a net in back and it looked very nice with my hair that way.

Clark Graves called me long-distance the other night, what for I don't know. I was doing my political science at the library when he phoned and Kay took the call; he told her he'd phone me between four and five yesterday afternoon, but I didn't hear from him, so I guess he's not going to call again. I think he wanted me to go out with a friend of his which would be very nice, especially since both George and Bob are gone (I have a faint, or rather a large one, suspicion that you have been wanting Bob to leave for quite some time, hmm!)

Bobbie sent me an announcement of his graduation; how I'd love to be going with you to see it. I'm just dying to see Bobbie in his uniform, I know he will look just divine. The card that accompanied the announcement had lieutenant on it. I can't

really believe Bobbie's going to be a lieutenant. You really must let him come up to see me. I wish you could all come, please try and do it, but if you think you can't make it, you must have him to come and see me. When I told Sally and Kay that he might come up to see me they immediately batted they'er eyes and asked whom he was going to take out. I would try real hard to show him a good time. Please let him come.

Love to all, Mary

P.S. There is a notice in my box that I have a package so it must be the things you sent me. Thank you very much. Love, Mary

P.P.S. Please have a wonderful time in Phoenix and take in everything for me. Love, Mary -
