Dear Mother and Daddy,

I've certainly had a social weekend, but now I shall really have to get busy Because finals start next Saturday.

The most fun was this morning. The D.G.'s invited the five of us over to breakfast or rather brunch. It was their traditional senoir breakfast, when the senoirs read their will and give their present to the house. We all sat around the living room and ate breakfast. Then the junoirs gave a skit portraying the senoirs - it was awfully funny. After the junoirs finnished making fun of the senoirs, the senoirs read their will in which they left everything imaginable to the girls in the house. They all came in dressed like angels with little gold halos around their head that definitely looked out of place. After they finished reading the will, the senoirs brought in their present. They brought in a huge suitcase and set it before the house mother. She opened it and inside was another suitcase and inside that was another suitcase and the present sitting

beside it. When they opened the other suitcase there was a box of candy and everyone practically went mad because that of course meant an engagement only no one knew who, and no one had the least idea of who it was. The house mother just about never got it open, inside was a little card with the picture of the couple. The poor girl nearly got trampled. I didn't know her because she was a girl who had already graduated but had just come down to spend the night. It was so much fun being in on the senoir breakfast and especially an engagement I've always heard how it was announced but had never quite seen it done. The D.G.'s have been so nice to us, they really treat us like pledges, and its so much fun to have been in the little part of sorority life that I have. It seems that they have always asked us up whenever they have had any kind of a celebration. I just hope that it isn't too long until I get to live there.

After I came home from the D.G. breakfast, Bob called and asked to take me out to

lunch. I wasn't really in the least hungry, but naturally I went anyway. He arrived with the med. student that has been dating Kay only he didn't buzz her and I couldn't understand why, but when we got way outside to the car I found he thought she wasn't home only I let him know that she was, so he rushed back in and all the girls were standing at the windows watching and they yelled to inform Kay of the situation although of course she was standing there watching all the time. She was very embarassed but we all four went out to lunch. Kay and I had to go to San Jose this afternoon to Breazy Rosental's house for dinner. She is always asking us up, but we never go, so finally we had to go this after noon. The boys took us to the train station and we just barely made the train. We fooled around and had a wonderful dinner at her house. I had lost two pounds, but today really fixed me up fine. We came back early and I put my nose in a book and have

kept it there since; in fact I am going to keep it there all week.

Yesterday I went on a picnic with Bob and Kay and Bill Skoag and some other med. students, about four. We roasted weanies and then came back and ate at the drive-in. After that we came home and got dressed and went to the Junoir Prom. I wore my white formal and I got some white gardenias which looked very pretty with it. The dance was a lot of fun. The Junoir Prom is the second largest dance of the year.

I guess I shall have to let last week-end do while I settle down and do some real studying for finals. I shall be coming home two weeks from tonight and I can hardly believe that I shall be home so soon.

Love to all, Mary

P.S. Do you think you could send me another check book. I've run out of checks and I have to write Mrs. Belenky another one.

Love, Mary -
