Dear Mother and Daddy,

It's turned awfully cold all of a sudden. It's very rainy and windy now and last week it was very warm and sunny. I guess the winter weather has just been putting itself off.

I only have three tests this week - One I had today, that was Spanish. It wasn't a very hard test , but it wasn't a very fair one either. It was supposed to cover seventy six pages of translation and reading but actually it covered on about four. I have a political science test on Wednesday and a German test on Friday. I can see where I'm really going to have a lovely week. Almost as bad as finals.

Last Saturday afternoon I went to the Cal. vs. Nevada game at Cal. It was a lot better game than the one I saw before. Of course Bob was particularly interested in the game and it was quite a blow to him when Nevada lost, even though they only lost in the last three minutes of the game. Kay and Bill were with us too and after the game we came back to Palo Alto and had dinner and then we went to a formal dance here that night. I wanted to wear my green dress but I finally convinced my self that I should save it for the big dance of the quarter. It was really awfully hard to keep from wearing it, but I'll be glad when the big dance comes. I wore the blue dress Margie gave me instead and all the girls liked it a lot. I can never understand

why in the world she gave it to me, but I'm awfully glad that she did. The dance was really just a wonderful one - Everyone in the world was there and they had divine food. It certainly was a nice dance.

On Sunday after I'd gone to church, I went out to lunch with Kay and Bill and Bob. The boys took us to the Corner House to eat and Kay and I just about died laughing, because that is where all the old ladies go to eat. After lunch we drove out to Big Basin, a State Park, and watched the deer and saw some big trees and fooled around in general. Then we came back and I had supper with Bob. I came home and studdied the rest of the evening for my Spanish test. I certainly hope I did all right.

I think it's just wonderful about Bobbie's name being up for

discharge, although I guess that he really isn't too pleased. It would certainly be nice if he could come here winter quarter, but if he wants to he'd better do something about applying right away, because there are a lot of boys coming back and there has been a temporary housing shortage. I don't imagine that will last too long, but it will probably extend to next quarter. I certainly hope he can come.

You had better write me whether you think I should come home for Thanksgiving. I'd have to get the Wednesday night train down and the Sunday Daylight back up. There are several girls coming down, but they are all coming by plane and I don't know of anyone who is going down on the train. Please write and tell me if you think I should come so I can get the tickets.

Love to all, Mary -

P.S. Dear Mother,

The gloves arrived and they are the cutest ones I have just about ever seen. I've been showing them to everyone who has come in and Ruth and Sally are probably a little tired of having me get them out and going into raptures over them. But I certainly do adore them. I can hardly wait to wear them. I think I'll just let you buy absolutely everything for me, you certainly know what I like. Thank you very much for sending them to me.

Love, Mary.
