Dear Mother and Daddy,

Well I got all my tests back and they really wern't quite what I had hopped they would be, but at least I didn't fail. In German a got a B even though I got 90 on the test. The class average was high and in all the class only 2 A's and 3 B's were given, so I guess I should feel lucky. In Spanish I only got a B+, but I should have had an A because the test was so easy, but I guess it was easy for everyone because you couldn't get an A unless you just made one mistake and I made two. Political Science was rather an unfortunate test, because for some reason I left out

a section which was worth 25 points. It was just the most stupid thing I ever did because I knew the material very well. The 1st and 2ed questions were related and since I got everything right in the first part I should have gotten almost everything right in the second part. I, therefore, only got a C and I might have done so well if I only haddn't left the section out. I asked the professor about it though and he seemed to think I would have done well if I hadn't left the part out, so he made a note of it and said that if I did well on my other tests he would take into consideration the grade I might have gotten on this one. It was awfully

nice of him. I just hope that I do do well in the next ones; so he can bring it up. I havn't the least idea how I'm doing in Paleontology, because, evidentally the professor doesn't want you to know what your grade is and so he writes all the grades out in Russian so we can't read them. I'll fool him though because I'll take my paper to Mrs. Belenky and find out what it means.

I'll have to tell you what happened last week-end. It really wasn't as exciting as some, but it was an awful lot of fun. I went to the movies with Sally and Marit Parker and saw "Our Vines have Tender Grapes." I just loved it. I usually don't cry in movies, but I

did in this one; in fact we all did no end and Marit was the only one with a handkerchief. We all looked so funny - After we came home we had a feast of milk and cookies and spent the rest of the day trying to rejuvinate my old beige dress to wear out that night. I went out to dinner with Bob and Kay and Bill and had the most wonderful dinner I've had in a long, long time. Turkey umm. We then went to another dance here that the first year class have for the rest of the med. school. It was lots of fun; just every one was there, and I met Bob's cousin who is in first year med. school now. She seemed awfully nice. I wonder if she is as smart as

Isabelle, and she is the one everyone is just dying to know about. We are all afraid (?) that she couldn't pledge anything. I think every one rather doubts that she did.

I havn't as yet made my reservations home yet, but I plan to do so tomorrow when I go into Palo Alto to morrow to see Mrs. Belenky. The more I think about it the more I want to come home (really just so I can get some biscuit and pan-cakes yum yum). But I still think that it would be nice if you came up here though. I wish Bobbie would hurry up and register here. I'm getting worried that he is not going too. Of course I realize that I'm prejudiced, but that's only
