yet many were successful in matching
their number. It was a long time
before I found my number, eighty,
but it did at least appear upon
Professor Marks hatchet. At last
whether the right partners had been
found or not we all followed the
leader in the grand march, for some
reason the two largest men in the
Universiy had no ladies and so they
marched together. They were Dr. Jordan
and Professor Swain.

After perambulating around
the halls the party came back to the
parlor and at the saign from the piane
four girls came in at each wide door
and with arms upraised met in the
center of the room and danced the
Dorothy dance which is almost like
the minuet. Minnie took part in it
and it was very well done and a most
charming thing. Miss Kirby of Indiana
sang a solo, two California girls
played a duet and Mr. Baker san
"Little Bird" which encored and then
he responded with a comic song about
a pussy and the meow came in quite
funny and brought him another encore.
Dr. Campbell also sang along.

Conversation seemed to flow
and in the halls, on landings and in
parlors the short-panted and be-buck-
led youths bent over white haired
and gaily dressed maidens. All too
soon came the hour for parting and
