much before. On Friday they held the memorial services to Senator Stanford, as it was his birthday, so we had vacation all day. The exercises were held in the [gym?] as the chapel was not [nearly?] large enough and even the gym was small for the crowd. I will send you a full account of it as soon as the Palo Alto comes out with it [in?]. Pres. [H?] spoke, Mrs. [Smith?] sang etc and [glee?] club. They were very impressive ceremonies. You see what a week it has here in that line - so many fine speakers and all the addresses were fine. Thursday evening I [made find guys?] here and White and Hill happen to come in - both phi delta theta and we raised a awful racket. The girls of the house are [coming in?] evening to learn how to act now and are getting over the [miliner?] and we really had a very jolly evening. Every one was shocked who heard the noise we made and yet it was not half as much as we often used to make at home in Madison when the young people were in. I don't admire Dr. Jordan one bit. He is a fine man to [run?] the university [but?] as to the time that he is giving the life here I think
