common room First with Bridge then with a Canadian and a New Zealand student traveling around the continent etc So went an hour or so and again my letter to you is shortened But these contacts are interesting and through then we also learn of particularly good things to see so the time in such talking is not really wasted and sometimes we talk with German students and this is doubly good because we get more practice which is one of the main reasons we are staying so much in Germany to the vacation after all
The trip is getting better now as you can probably tell from the tone of my letters I like Holland very much especially over on this side in the area between Amsterdam - and the Hague - several very interesting and lively cities and also as we stay in hostels and meet people there and talk with people in shops or on the street I feel once again that the world is still alive and talking Scenery is beautiful but you need people to really give meaning even to nature Fortunately as we go up the Rhine well spend extra time in Koln and Heidelberh and even these two stops will give a feeling of anchor of reference to it It feels remarkable good just to stay in the same hostel for two nights to settle down and grow even those feeble roots Obviously I'm not the transient type I'll enjoy sitting home by the fire in yout arms just fine!
And something else that helped was getting the mail yesterday and now looking forward to more in Rotterdam I'm surprised and happy that I don't feel as out of touch now as I did in Munich or Rome I miss very much hearing what you're doing and feeling but I don't feel quite so much like I'm writing into a void even -- without letters to answer
