There are many boys here that are entering on recommendations, who have not done any more work than I have and there are some that have not done as much. There's a pretty slim chance of me getting in this year. I'll do the best I can though. I can't find out if I passed the examintions untill Thursday. I will mail you the English Ex. I don't think I passed in it. You can see how hard it was yourself. Most of the books I had not read. All of the exs were twice as hard as last year.

I was reading Goldens catalogue to day and thought if I could not get in Stanford I would go there. I think my recommendations would get me in without examination.

I think I will send there and find out. I think Golden is just what I want.

I have $5.75 in my pocket-book. I have not paid by board. ($1 a day) All the rooms are rented by the month here.
