SAN JOSE STATE - SAN MATEO - STANFORD SOCIAL,
JANUARY 23, 1954 AT STANFORD CLUBHOUSE.

This first Winter social, sponsored by
the Chinese Students' Club of Stanford and held
at the beautiful ballroom of the [luxurous?]
luxurious Stanford Chinese Clubhouse, drew a
mixed throng of some 40 persons. There were
24 women present (inlcuded were several San
Mateo High School girls!). Games, dancing, cats.

ELM COTTAGE - CLUBHOUSE EXCHANGE, JAN. 27, 1953 [right arrow]

Held at the Chinese Clubhouse from 9-10:30
p.m. Fairly successful turnout. Games, much
conversation & excellent refreshments filled
the program. See list on opposite page for names.

ATHLETIC EVENTS: INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL - 1953

The 1953 Stanford University Intramural
Basketball Season saw a new, powerhouse quintent
from the Chinese Students' Clubhouse romp thru
four straight, low-scoring victories before being
upset in a high-scoring championship game in
League #17. Included in this league were six teams,
primarily eating clubs.

SCORES: (1) Chinese Club, 19 - El Capitan, 8
(2) [Chinese Club], 16 - Breakers, 14
(3) [Chinese Club], 18 - El Toro, 16
(4) [Chinese Club] wins default over VIllage
314. Instead practice game with
Phi Psi I quintet - a draw.
(5) Chinese Club, 32 - Physics Students, 40

The season was marked by excessive man-
power and height of the opponents, but fight,
scrappiness, and smart ball playing pulled
