Negotiation Strategy:

I cant look at this as a technical professional and say how much should I get from this project. Its just not one that is professionally interesting to me.

So I must look at it from a business standpoint and doing so Id be willing to split the profits 50/50 with the rationale that this project cant possibly get done without the cooperation of both myself and microsoft.

To simplify matters we can just say 15% of gross income is paid to me so that special accounting is not required.

I am totally free not to work on this in which case no one will make any money off of it. Also I can make it happen but if I do then profits should be split fairly. I see no reason for either party to make more than 50%.

I am tempted to work on it for just a big chunk of cash but I would feel that this is unfair unless its upfront and well in excess of a salary. It is unfair since I am not benefiting as much as microsoft would be.

At meeting Friday afternoon 9/23/83

Bill suggests 20% / 80% of HESs royalty to [ySaft]
I get 20% for my work

My rationalization: Microsoft gets 20% for design of BASIC 40% for code as it exists 20% for name and reputation

He says his intuition is that it would be a great product. I discovered [adn] Commodore selling Simon Basic on Saturday 9/24.
