Dear Sir -
In answer to your letter of 27 March 1945 requesting answers to the questions on ex-servicemen's post war education
1. I for one intend to pursue a course of study after the war.
2. And at Stanford, where else?
3. I hope to study medicine.
4. As for a program differing from Stanford pre-war requirements - not applicable in this case
5. Housing requirements would be an apartment or

house suitable for two people.
6. Recreational facilities on the campus present no problem for one who knows the golf course, swimming pools, and tennis courts as any Stanford man should. One extra-curricular difficulty is a necessity to supplement the governmental allowance. Owing to the extensive program of education which I have planned, and to the large expense entailed, it appears at the present time that a supplemental income will be required. The amount

of extra income necessary will be entirely dependent upon the duration of the war, and I might add the income tax rate for 1945 and 1946. You may find this problem confronting many more soldiers, and present it for your consideration. I know of the various types of loans and tuition deferment plans available to students, and the student aids for job locating, but it may be that the problem will be larger than the facilities can handle.
