Dear Dr. Tresidder,

I received your most welcome letter today and it was certainly glad to receive such a swell and encouraging letter. I had the very good fortune of attending Stanford for five quarters before being evacuated from the coast. I immediately transfered to University of Colorado, which seemed more of a glorified high school after attending Stanford. However the more Stanford seemed to spell a [claim?] on something at that university, and I was able to get on many activities, committees, and became head yell leader. However, I missed the Farm pretty badly and read every one of the Alumni news which was at the library.

Our whole family is doing its share in this war effort. My brother '41 is in the G@ outpost in the Phillipines, my father '14 and my sister are teaching in the naval intelligence language school at the University of Colorado and I am [tutoring?] basic training at Florida.

Ever since I evacuated from the coast, I have been looking forward to returning to Stanford and [finishing?] my studies. I received an A.B. at Colorado and would like to enter Medical School as soon as I can get my discharge. I do not think that the Stanford curriculum should change very much, except that many small apartments will be greatly in demand by the veterans. Thanking you again for the letter, I remain

Sincerely yours, [Gerze Utagawa, Pt.?]
