Dear Mr. Tresidder

I received your welcome letter in which you asked several questions as to my post war plans. While I have thought a great deal as to what I would like to when I am discharged from the service I have never reached any decision that would help in answering your questions.

I would like to return to college and work toward a masters degree in chemical engineering. Time is the important factor, as I have no idea as to when the war will be won and how long after that before I get a discharge.

As to returning to Stanford, that creates another problem with me. While I attended Stanford I had such a wonderful time, and I know I could never hope to return under the same conditions. I think therefore if I get a chance to return to college, I will attend another University. This cast no ill reflections on Stanford, because to me there is no place on earth that can equal it.

If I should however decide to return I would study in the field of electronics, mechanical and chemical engineering.

For information of the record [luncan?]. I was promoted to Lt. [(Jg.)?] on the first of Feb 1945. I am now assistant engineer in the USS Pope (DE 134),
