The 2 Miss Marches [Marshes] came in during
the evening, Mr. McMinn had asked
them last evening, as we are never
at home in the afternoons. The "Feilung" [Fei Lung]
is expected in tomorrow.

Saturday 18th

This afternoon Mrs. Giles & I went
to return Mrs. Favenc's & Mrs. Harvey's
calls, but did not start till 5!
as it was too hot. After dinner
we went to Mrs. Hilson's & met
there Mrs. Solomon, Mrs. Favenc
Miss Biddels, Messrs Brightson,
Craig Baines, Ward, Solomon, Favenc
& Mr Hilson. We got home at
½ past 11. Everyone lives in the
township, so we had no
distance to walk. We slept from lunch
time till 4. No "Feilung" yet.

Sunday 19th

Mr. Giles & I went to the only church
in Palmerston a Wesleyan chapel
this morning. There were 9 persons
in all present. Mr Stuart is the
minister & such a poor preacher that it is
no wonder people prefer staying at
home in this hot climate. This
evening Mrs. G & Harry came too, the
Church of E. [service] in the evening,
& there were fully 3 dozen there. The
building would hardly hold more than
50 comfortably, it is a little barn of
