England opened their 2nd innings as before with Sutcliffe and Jardine and at
4 o'clock the score was 4 runs for no wickets, all made by Sutcliffe. Oldfield was
not well enough to resume and Richardson kept wicket in his place.

When the innings had been going only a comparatively short time O'Brien, who was
fielding as substitute for Oldfield, made a magnificent running catch in the deep field
on the leg side to dismiss Sutcliffe, the bowler being Wall. The crowd cheered O'Brien
uproariously. The batting order was then changed. Wyatt came in instead of Hammond.
At 4.55 the 50 went up, after 56 minutes play. The score at this time being:-

Jardine not out 12
Sutcliffe c O'Brien b Wall 7
Wyatt not out 29

We hear that oldfield has been sent home in an ambulance. As some indication of the
bad feeling and bitterness existing Mr.Noble, late Captain of Australia, publishes an
article today in the evening press, headed "Preventable Brutality" and accuses Jardine
as being responsible for the vicious methods introduced into cricket, which have caused
these highly sensational incidents.
