Announcement at beginning of first broadcast at 7.45 a.m.

We are now going to broadcast a description of the fourth Test match between England and Australia at Brisbane, through the courtesy of the manufacturers of GILLETTE razors and blades.

The world-wide success of GILLETTE has been chiefly due to its achievements in the treatment of steel, both in tempering and in fine edging. Nearly every important operation employed in the making of a GILLETTE blade is the result of study and experiment on the part of GILLETTE engineers. Their latest accomplishments are embodied in the new slotted blade; its features are a more durable steel and a sharper edge than ever achieved heretofore.

If you have not tried the new slotted GILLETTE blade, buy a packet today and prove to yourself that it gives a keener shave and lasts longer than any blade you have previously tried. Make sure you ask for the slotted GILLETTE blades, which fit all types of Gillette razors.

The latest score in the fourth Test between England and Australia at Brisbane is Australia 187 for 1 wicket.

Woodfull again won the toss for Australia and it was a hot and perfect day when the players took the field this morning. There is one change in the English side, Mitchell getting his first chance in a Test. He has taken the place of Voce, sho is evidently still considered unfit.

Woodful and Richardson opened the Australian innings to the bowling of Larwood and Allen. This is the first time Ricahrdson has opened and the experiment appears to have been successful. Richardson began unsteadily and gave two chances before he had settled down, but neither of them were accepted. He was missed by Jardine fielding at 3rd man off Larwood when 10 and again when 11 he could have been stumped when facing Hammond. Before lunch the scoring was slow, the bowling accurate and the fielding keen. Only 3 fours were scored in the first hour. The 50 was put up after 75 minutes batting. Just before lunch Mitchell took over from Hammond, but the change was not effective. The lunch score was:-

Richardson not out 34 Woodfull " " 21 extras 1 no wickets....... 56
