Braidwood 7 Dec [December] 1851

My Dear Sir
I write to inform you that
a goldfield has been found on Strathallan
estate contiguous to your property and
I think there is a probability of it
extending to your land. In these
circumstances it may be necessary for
you to send instructions to Mr Sutherland
or some other person to attend to your
interests. You will be on the road to
half the license fee. in the mean -
time it may be sufficient to keep
a watch upon persons who may go
to work stealthily on your lands &
prevent exit it will of course be
[indecipherable] for you to come home on
a visit to make arrangements.
