Sydney September 9th 1818
My beloved Brother
An opportunity offers by another
of our old friends to write these fiew lines (it is Mr
Richard Jones) he xpects to sail in ten or twelve days
the passage he intends going will be by way of
China which must consequently be long and hoping
that another means will offer to write you ere you
can have received this shall not enlarge -
Through a gracuous providence we all
at this period do enjoy a perfect state of health
never theless God hand of affliection have not es
caped our family thoug his dealings have been
in tenderness and no doubt in much love
about 2 or 3 months back Coalds were very
prevelent throughout this colony - Father Jonathan
& James, at one and the same time were confined
to their rooms with severe illness and I also
here in this place - hence you see that all
the Male part of this family were ill at the
same time - but the Lord hath raised us up
again to the full enjoyment of health & we
impropitable Creatures are still numbered among
the living and some of us not cut off in the
