Durack – Emanuel Expedition

of getting there. A résumé of this information is here given

They sailed from Sydney Jy 1882 to the Cambridge.
Landed their horses & equipment & after some
weeks' travelling inland reached the Ord
River, naming on their way the Durack
Pentacost (Sic) Dunham & Bow Rivers, all of which
empty into the Gulf. Travelling west from district
now known as Hall's Creek they reached Beagle
Bay where they caught the schooner Mary Smith
& landed at Fremantle on Jan 15 of 1883.
They were convinced of the good qualities of the Kimberley District for pastoral purposes.
