My dear James,

Wishing you all a happy New Year. I can at this moment do no more, except to thank you for the kind Letter which I received from you a few days since. Until I have seen William and the Troops have returned to their ordinary Quarters I can name

no time for my visit to Sydney. But it is necessary that Ellen should receive her wages, and Gilkinson also what is due to him, and I should be thankful to you to pay these several amounts for me.
